Turn a wall width into a repeatable slat pattern
Decorative Slatwalls depend on rhythm. If the first few slats are spaced by eye, small errors can compound and leave an awkward final gap. This calculator works from the actual wall width, slat face width, and either a target gap or a chosen slat count.
Design from gap or count
Use target-gap mode when you know the look you want—such as a gap close to the slat width. Use count mode when you already know how many slats you plan to install. MeasureMarks calculates the actual repeating gap and gives every slat center mark from one starting edge.
Practical layout tips
- Measure the finished visible wall area, especially when baseboards, casing, or cabinets define the edges.
- Use actual slat width after finishing or milling.
- Mark centers first, then use the slat width shown in the blueprint to confirm the edges.
- If the wall has outlets or switches, establish the overall pattern before deciding how individual slats interact with those obstacles.
Should edge gaps match the interior gaps?
That is a design choice. Equal edge spacing usually looks balanced, while flush edges can work when trim defines the boundary.
Can I use this for acoustic slat panels?
Yes for layout planning, provided you enter the actual visible slat width and desired spacing.
